Grand Theft Auto is one of the most well known and iconic franchises in video gaming today. It’s rich, narrative driven missions combined with the ability to play sandbox and simply create havoc makes it an ideal kind of game no matter what mood you might be in.
It’s a shame then that such a well loved series was subject to such a shoddy remaster. Grand Theft Auto Definitive Edition launched in 2021 and contained Grand Theft Auto 3, Grant Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. These three titles were the first in the series to make the leap from top down perspective 2D to a fully 3 dimensional, open world city.
The remasters were critically panned by most game reviewers, with a multitude of issues and a general lack of polish. Looking again at the series in 2025, has the modding community now fixed all of Grove Street’s blunders or should you simply stick to the originals? Find out in this video.
