Westwood Studios’ classic 2000 action-RPG Nox is the latest game to get given the GoG.com preservation program treatment. Thanks to the hard work of the GoG.com team, you can now enjoy this game running perfectly on Windows 10 and 11 with no need for any other compatibility fixes or tools. The GoG.com release uses a custom wrapper rather than a modified game executable, meaning that it still runs on period accurate hardware too, should you wish to do so.
Furthermore, the GoG.com release fully restores multiplayer, allowing you to play not just across your home network but across the internet. Time to party like it’s the year 2000!
We last took a look at Nox all the way back in 2013 and found the game ran reasonably well on machines back then, though more recent changes to Windows haven’t been kind to games of this era. The new GoG.com release completely fixes the games issues and it now runs even better than before. There wasn’t an awful lot to update in this guide, in fact with the GoG.com version there’s really no need for a guide at all, but if you need to check it out, you can do so here.
Just like with Prince of Persia, we strongly recommend picking up the GoG.com version if you want to revisit this classic. For those of you still hanging on to your original retail copy, it does mean buying the game again, but if you hurry you can get the game on 75% discount, which in our opinion is more than worth the asking price just for all the hard work GoG.com put into creating the compatibility wrapper.
